Short Biography

He was born in Bolu (1959). He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Theology (1982). In 1989, he completed his doctoral studies in the field of Tafsir. He conducted research abroad and served as a Visiting Lecturer in various countries. He has focused on topics such as Commentary Issues on the Interpretation and Understanding of the Quran, pre-Islamic culture and Semitic culture as the background of the Quranic message, and the comparison of modern approaches to the interpretation of the Quran with traditional Islamic understanding. Among his published works are books like "Life After Death in Sacred Scriptures", "Introduction to the Quran," "How Historical Are the Quran and I?" (a compilation of articles), and "What Happened to the Quran and Tafsir in the Contemporary Period?" He served diplomatically for the Republic of Turkey in Washington DC from 2008 to 2011. He held positions at the Directorate of Foreign Relations of the Presidency of Religious Affairs and served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Vatican. He served as Special Representative for Combating Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). He currently serves as the ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Islamabad.
