Short Biography

Necdet Tosun was born in Bandırma (1971). He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Theology (1993). He completed his master's degree at Marmara University with a thesis titled "İbn Arabî Öncesi Tasavvufta Halvet ve Uzlet" (Khalwat (seclusion) and ‘Uzlah (solitariness) in Sufism before Ibn ‘Arabi) (1995), and his doctorate with a dissertation titled "Tasavvufta Hâcegân Ekolü XII.-XVII. yüzyıllar” (Hâcegan School in Sufism XII.-XVII. centuries)  (2002). He became an associate professor in 2006 and a professor in 2012. Currently, he serves as a faculty member in the Department of Tasawwuf at Marmara University Faculty of Theology. He has conducted research on Ottoman, Central Asian, and Indian Sufism. He is proficient in English, Arabic, and Persian.
