Short Biography

Fatih Al is an academic researcher specializing in human behavior and decision-making at the intersection of religion and morality. Currently, he is an assistant professor of economics at the School of Business at Ibn Haldun University, Istanbul.

Fatih holds an undergraduate degree in aeronautical engineering from Istanbul Technical University, where he also completed a master’s degree in management of information systems. He furthered his management education with an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University. Transitioning into the field of Islamic economics and finance, he completed his doctoral studies at Istanbul Zaim University under the supervision of Prof. Monzer Kahf, while foundational empirical and methodological pillars were established at Durham University under the co-supervision of Prof. Mehmet Asutay. His dissertation introduced a multi-stage methodology that integrates grounded theory, large language model (LLM)-assisted qualitative analysis, and agent-based modeling to construct a theoretical framework for religio-moral agency.

Before his transition to academia, Fatih spent over a decade in the industry, focusing on product development and R&D. Recently, Fatih served as a visiting researcher at Durham University Business School, Durham Centre for Islamic Economics and Finance (DCIEF) under the auspices of a TUBITAK-funded project as part of his dissertation. His current research agenda focuses on decisions and behavior within the Islamic economics and finance domain.
