He received his PhD (2025) and MS (2018) degrees from the Department of International Relations at Middle East Technical University (METU). He completed his undergraduate studies at the Department of International Relations at Kırıkkale University in 2015, graduating as the top-ranked student in his class. His research interests include the Gulf region, US foreign policy, the political economy of the Middle East, post-positivist theories of International Relations, and contemporary French philosophy.

He began his professional career at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (ORSAM) in June 2018. At the same institution, he served as the Coordinator of Gulf Studies from September 2021 to February 2026. As part of the field research he conducted between 2021 and 2022, he carried out interviews and on-site research in Amman, Salt, and Madaba in Jordan; Doha, the capital of Qatar; and the emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Ajman in the United Arab Emirates.

In April 2026, he joined the Center for Gulf Studies and Global Policy at Ibn Haldun University. As of 15 June 2026, he has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations within the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences at Ibn Haldun University.

His major international publications include the chapter “Qatar’s Energy Policies in the European LNG Market,” published in The Gas Troika on the European Gas Market, Vol. 2 by De Gruyter Brill; the chapter “Oman’s Relations with Pakistan and India,” co-authored with Mehmet Rakipoğlu and published in Regional Security in South Asia and the Gulf(2023), edited by Umer Karim and Saloni Kapur and published by Routledge; and the review article “Defying Small-State Orthodoxy: The UAE’s Outlier Trajectory toward Middle-Power Status,” published in Insight Turkey, an ESCI- and Scopus-indexed journal. He has also contributed to edited volumes published by Springer Nature and Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. He authored the chapter on the United Arab Emirates for the forthcoming Routledge Handbook of Artificial Intelligence and National Security. He presented his academic papers at the BRISMES annual conferences hosted by Lancaster University and Newcastle University in 2024 and 2025, respectively. In 2025, he also prepared country reports on migration and asylum legislation in Yemen and the Gulf states as part of projects supported by the European Union and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

In addition to his academic work, Ereli maintains a visible media presence and regularly publishes analyses, commentaries, and opinion pieces in both international and national media outlets. His assessments have been featured by global media organisations including the BBC World Service, Al Jazeera, Russia Today, Voice of America, The Asahi Shimbun, China Daily, Fair Observer, and Amwaj Media. He also contributes opinion articles on Gulf geopolitics and Yemen to platforms such as Daily Sabah, TRT World, and Kriter magazine. He shares his assessments of regional developments as a live broadcast guest and analyst on a range of television, radio, print, and digital media platforms, including TRT Arabi, TRT 1, TRT Ankara Radio, TRT Istanbul Radio, Anadolu Agency, Fokus+, and SAVTEK.
