Short Biography
İbrahim Efe is a communication scholar working at the intersection of digital media, discourse studies, and political communication. Trained as a corpus linguist at Lancaster University, where he completed his PhD in Applied Linguistics under the supervision of Prof. Ruth Wodak, he brings over thirteen years of higher-education experience. His research moves from the critical analysis of media discourse toward the changing conditions of digital journalism and communication, including the implications of artificial intelligence for journalistic practice and media ethics. His work in corpus linguistics and critical discourse analysis has been published in Q1 journals including Discourse & Communication, the Journal of Language and Politics, and Migration Studies. He currently holds a Research Fellowship at the University of Manchester.
His research focuses on how political communication, media representation, and public discourse are shaped within digital media environments. His principal interests include political communication, the representation of migration and refugees, discourse analysis, Middle East media and society, and the use of artificial intelligence in journalistic practice and media ethics.
Dr Efe is particularly interested in supervising interdisciplinary doctoral projects that combine critical theory with empirical methods. He welcomes PhD applications in the following areas:
