Mehmet Karanfiloğlu is an Associate Professor of Communication at Ibn Haldun University, Türkiye. His research focuses on digital media and communication, media and digital literacy, misinformation and disinformation, artificial intelligence and communication, data-driven communication, and the broader social implications of digital transformation.

He received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Public Relations and Publicity from Ege University and studied International Communication and Media at Hogeschool Utrecht in the Netherlands. His doctoral research focused on Industry 4.0 and corporate communication, establishing an early research trajectory in digital transformation that has subsequently expanded toward digital media, information integrity, and emerging communication technologies.

Karanfiloğlu’s research and publications address digital and media literacy, misinformation and fact-checking, artificial intelligence, social media, corporate and data-driven communication, privacy, sustainability, and digital culture. He is the author of books on digital transformation and corporate communication and has co-edited academic works addressing new media and disinformation in the digital age.

Alongside his academic career, Karanfiloğlu has professional experience in CRM, marketing, and communication, including work with Turkish Airlines, Türk Telekom, and Turkcell Global Bilgi. He has contributed to national and international research and training projects as a researcher, project coordinator, and trainer.

At Ibn Haldun University, he previously served as Vice Dean of the School of Communication, Chair of the Department of New Media and Communication, and in academic leadership roles in graduate programs. He currently serves as a member of the University Senate. In 2023, he received the university’s Best Teaching Practices award in recognition of his teaching practices.
