Merve Reyhan Baygeldi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Ibn Haldun University. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Middle East Technical University and completed her PhD in the Sociology of Religion at Bursa Uludağ University with a dissertation titled “Religion and Spirituality from Cultural Capital to Social Capital: Pastoral Counseling Experiences of Convicts.”

Her research areas include the sociology of crime, criminology, gender, prison studies, security studies, and social capital. She has published various works in these fields.
