Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu is a legal scholar specializing in labour law, collective labour law, alternative dispute resolution, data protection law, and the impact of artificial intelligence on employment relations.

She completed her LL.B. in 2005 and obtained her LL.M. in 2007 with her thesis titled “The Right to Refrain from Work Due to Delayed Wage Payments.” During her doctoral studies, she conducted research at the Institut für Arbeitsrecht und Arbeitsbeziehungen in der EG (IAAEG) in Trier, Germany. In 2012, she completed her Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Turhan Esener with her dissertation titled “Fixed-Term Employment Contracts in Turkish Labour Law,” which was subsequently published as a book.

The book Trade Union Law, co-authored with Prof. Dr. Turhan Esener, was first published in 2014 and reissued in an updated edition in 2017. In the same year, she served as a visiting researcher at the Institute for Labour Law and Social Security Law in Freiburg, Germany. Her habilitation-equivalent work, The Scope of Collective Agreements, was published in 2018. She is also among the co-authors of the book Collective Labour Law, authored together with A. Can Tuncay and Burcu Savaş Kutsal. She was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2019 and was promoted to Full Professor in 2024.

Prof. Dr. Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu currently serves as Vice Rector, Head of the Private Law Department at the Faculty of Law, and Director of the Dispute Resolution Application and Research Center (UÇAM) at Ibn Haldun University. She is a licensed attorney and a registered mediator with the Mediation Department of the Ministry of Justice. She has also served as editor and contributing author of the book Expert Mediation in Labour Law, published by the Ministry of Justice for use in specialized mediation training programmes. Furthermore, she serves as Secretary General of the Turkish Arbitration Academy, established in 2021 through the cooperation of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, Ibn Haldun University, and Istanbul Commerce University.

Her academic and professional work focuses on labour law, collective labour law, mediation, arbitration, employee data protection, sustainability, digital transformation, and AI-driven workplace practices. Her recent research agenda particularly addresses algorithmic discrimination, employee monitoring, data security, the impact of digitalization on occupational health and safety, the cultural implications of algorithms, and mediation-based resolution of institutional disputes.

She has contributed to the academic literature through peer-reviewed journal articles, case law analyses, books, book chapters, editorial work, translations, and papers presented at scientific meetings at both national and international levels. She has served as principal investigator in Scientific Research Projects (BAP) and TÜBİTAK-funded projects, and as a national expert in European Union-funded projects. In addition, she is actively engaged in training, consultancy, and arbitration practice.
