Biography
Zakir Demir graduated from the Faculty of Theology at Necmettin Erbakan University in 2015. In the same year, he began his academic career as a research assistant at Siirt University, Faculty of Theology. In 2016, he moved to Marmara University to pursue post-graduate studies within the scope of the Faculty Member Training Program. He completed his MA thesis entitled “Terms of Tafsir and Quranic Sciences in the Literature of Taʻrīfāt Ḥudūd Muṣṭalaḥāt” at Marmara University, Graduate School of Social Sciences, Department of Quranic Exegesis in 2017. This study published by Araştırma Press under the name of “An Alternative Field to Tafsir Terminology: Taʻrīfāt Ḥudūd Muṣṭalaḥāt Literature”, in 2020. He completed his Ph.D. dissertation titled “The Essence of Quranic Excerpts in the Context of Divine References” at Marmara University, Graduate School of Social Sciences, Department of Quranic Exegesis, in 2022. His doctoral dissertation, bearing the same title, published in 2024 by Ankara Okulu Press. In addition to his theological training, he completed a second undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature at Marmara University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, in 2022, which he started at Istanbul Şehir University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, in 2018. As the culmination of ten years of dedicated scholarly effort following his graduation from the Faculty of Theology, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2025. He has authored many articles, books, and book chapters regarding the Quranic Exegesis. He is fluent in Arabic, English, and Persian. Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor, at Siirt University, Faculty of Theology. His main areas of interest are Quranic exegesis, terminology studies, linguistics, methodology, and classical Islamic thought.
