Short Biography

M. Furkan Alpat, Ph.D., is the founding coordinator of School of Languages at Ibn Haldun University and currently serves as the Director in Istanbul. His academic work focuses on language education, digital learning ecosystems, blended learning design, and the pedagogical integration of artificial intelligence. His research interests include teacher education, assessment and feedback processes, digital pedagogies, and technology-mediated learning models.

He completed his doctoral studies on the design of blended learning environments through the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework, publishing internationally on the integration of online and face-to-face learning, student engagement, and AI-supported instructional practices.

At Ibn Haldun University, he has led the development of multilingual teaching programs in English, Turkish, Arabic, and Swahili, while also contributing to the creation of innovative, AI-enhanced graduate-level courses and digital pedagogy initiatives.

Alpat serves as the Director of both the Turkish Language Teaching Research and Application Center and the Distance Education Research and Application Center. He has also been a member of the University Senate since 2017. In addition to his administrative leadership roles, he serves as a faculty member in the Department of Educational Sciences at the Faculty of Education.

He plays a leading role in advancing the university’s internationalization strategy, working on the expansion of global academic partnerships, the establishment of international research and education centers, the enhancement of student and faculty mobility, and the development of intercultural learning ecosystems. He has actively contributed to the organization and implementation of academic and social training programs in Russia, the United States, Syria, Kazakhstan, and Jordan.

Furthermore, he engages in cultural diplomacy and educational cooperation with countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait, supporting the university’s regional and global visibility.

Alongside his academic work, he is involved in program design, quality assurance, institutional strategy, project management, and innovation in higher education.
